What is the ideal time to return to work after childbirth?

The general consensus is that it's ideal for mothers to return to work after their baby turns two. This is because bonding occurs most strongly in the first two years of life.

 

However, in the real world, this is often not possible due to the mother's career or economic difficulties, so mothers have to return to work earlier.

Separation anxiety is very high in infants aged 8-24 months. Studies based on attachment studies show that it is not appropriate for mothers to return to work between the ages of 8-24 months; it is better for mothers to return to work either before 8 months or after the age of 2.

If the mother cannot stay home for the first two years, it is crucial that the caregiver has an emotional bond with the baby and that this bond remains unchanged. The choice of babysitter directly affects the baby's attachment style and personality. The babysitter should have joined the family at least 2-3 months before the mother starts work, and care should be taken to ensure an emotional connection exists between the caregiver and the baby.
